Efficient Well Panning for the Next Decade: Reducing Planning from Months to Days. A SmartDigital™ Workshop

Adolfo Gonzales, Vanny Vanny, and Narayan Hejamady Shanker, Halliburton
The main goal of the well construction engineer is to deliver safe and cost-effective wells. During this workshop, Landmark will reveal how we can help well construction teams achieve this objective by combining the best science available with proven engineering algorithms to deliver innovations and efficiencies in the design and management of well plans. A fully digital workflow will be revealed that allows engineers to navigate through all of the typical steps in well design, so that the whole process can potentially be reduced from a matter of months to days. You will experience enhancements to the methods of offset well analysis, casing design, and initial integrity checks, along with the planning and checking of well trajectories for the avoidance of potential collision. Well costing, operations planning, and, ultimately, reporting can all be delivered in the same digital platform. Throughout the design process, managers will also have the ability to view and interact with well design summaries. Collectively, all of these attributes will combine to help allow today’s engineers to deliver the best well designs for many years to come.

Updating Integrated Asset Models With Recent Additions to the DecisionSpace® Portfolio: The Impact of Multidisciplinary Workflows Across a Lifecycle. A SmartDigital™ Workshop

Rafael Garcia, Geosciences Technical Leader, Halliburton
An informative and interactive workshop will be delivered that leverages a public domain dataset from the Volve field, offshore Norway. This three-stage workshop will replicate the nature of a subsurface asset model in different stages of its development. We will illustrate how new data and technologies can be brought to bear on the manner in which this model is updated. The different stages of this workshop will:
    • Demonstrate the benefits of a dynamic structural framework that allows instant updates to the model when new data are available
    • Show the value of technologies related to assisted fault interpretation, which enhance the speed of gathering new data for the model that refines the structural understanding of the asset
    • Illustrate using seismic amplitude analysis techniques to identify potential sweet spots that will provide further development for targets in a later stage of the field’s history
MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2019  |  1:00 PM – 3:00 PM  |  ROOM 339A
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2019  |  3:00 PM – 5:00 PM  |  ROOM 338

Worked Examples of Design Thinking: Creating User-centric Digital Oil and Gas Solutions. A SmartDigital™ Workshop

Alex Page, Global Director, SmartDigital Co-Innovation
Investments in many digital transformation initiatives often fail to deliver value. A recent Gartner study concluded, “66% of business leaders have plans for digital business transformation, but only 11% have achieved it at scale.” In this workshop, we will showcase actual project work that has been undertaken around the world that solves real-world exploration and production (E&P) business problems by the process of co-innovating with our customers to generate practical outcomes that can add value the instant they are deployed. From well program logistical challenges, to production optimization and simple data analytics, to complex massive dataset subsurface fault interpretation, almost all of today’s issues can benefit from elements of newly available digital technologies. Internet of Things (IoT) continuous data streams and edge compute, machine learning, artificial intelligence, augment reality, and cloud computing all provide us with greater opportunities than ever before to do more with less. If you would like to see how great ideas can be transformed into groundbreaking digital innovation solutions, then this workshop is for you. During the course of this workshop, you will participate in a selection of super-creative and fun group exercises that are an integral part of the SmartDigital™ co-innovation process. Please join us to explore this co-innovation experience.

Execution of Data Science to Solve the Challenges of Today’s Engineers, Geoscientists and Information Management Professionals: A SmartDigital™ Workshop

Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy, Dr. Geetha Gopakumar Nair, Bhaskar Mandapaka, and Azucena Gomez, Halliburton
In this SmartDigital™ Big Data Science workshop you will experience a series of hands-on activities that will focus on the value that data science on a cloud platform can bring to common e&p workflow scenarios using a variety of real data sets from the world of drilling, exploration, and production. The workshop will be hosted in the cloud using resources freely available to you in the OpenEarth® Community. Together we will guide you through the steps required for data ingestion, the building of contextualized machine learning models and will culminated in the generation of true insights that will support true data driven decision making.
